The blank new-build garden is your best customer

Somebody moves into a new house and the garden is a rectangle of builder's rubble with a thin skin of topsoil over it. They know it needs doing, they have no idea what it costs, and they are looking at the same problem as everyone else on the road. It is the most concentrated, most repeatable opportunity in Irish landscaping and it is mostly worked by accident.

The problem is identical up and down the street

Same soil, same size, same aspect within a few degrees, same builder's leftovers underneath. Once you have solved it for one house you can quote the next in minutes and build it faster.

That is a margin advantage no design-led one-off job gives you, and it compounds the more of them you do.

Neighbours are the whole marketing plan

A finished garden on a new estate is visible to forty households with the same rectangle of mud. Nothing else in this trade advertises that efficiently.

Work while people can see you, keep the site tidy, and make it easy for someone to ask what it cost. A card through the doors on the road while you are there converts unusually well because they have just watched you do it.

Be honest about the ground

Most new-build gardens are compacted subsoil with a shallow layer of topsoil dropped on top. A lawn laid straight onto that will sit wet and fail.

Explaining that is both the right thing and a strong sales position: it is the reason your quote is higher than the one that just prices turf, and the customer can verify it with a spade.

Phase it if the budget is stretched

People who have just bought a house are frequently out of money. A scheme delivered in two or three phases keeps the job alive instead of losing it to 'maybe next year'.

It also books you work in a quieter month, which is worth something on its own.

Target by estate, not by county

Advertising platforms will let you reach a small, specific area. A new estate is exactly that, and the people in it share a problem you have already solved.

It is far cheaper than county-level targeting and the message can be completely specific, which is the combination that actually converts.
