How to get your venue onto Irish wedding blogs

Irish wedding blogs and magazines publish real weddings constantly and they are always looking for them. A feature puts your venue in front of exactly the audience you want, carries a link, and lasts for years. Venues that get featured repeatedly are not luckier than the rest; they are easier to work with.

The photographer is usually the one submitting

Most real wedding features are submitted by the photographer, not the venue. That makes your relationship with photographers the whole mechanism.

Be good to work with on the day, give them space and time, credit them everywhere you use their images, and they will submit weddings at your venue rather than someone else's.

Make it easy to say yes

Publications want a full set of images, the supplier list, and a couple willing to be named. Having that assembled is most of the work.

A venue that can hand over the package has a far better hit rate than one that says it would be nice to be featured.

Ask couples at the right moment

Shortly after the wedding, when they are still delighted and the photographs have just arrived.

Asking a year later rarely works. Asking before the day is premature. The window is short and predictable.

Pitch the thing that is actually unusual

Editors see a great many country house weddings. What gets picked up is a specific angle: an unusual ceremony, a midweek winter wedding, a small one, a notable restoration, a family connection to the building.

Generic submissions compete with hundreds. A story competes with few.

Do not pay for it if you can earn it

Paid placements exist and are clearly marked, which is exactly why they persuade less.

An earned feature carries more weight with couples and the link is worth more. Build the photographer relationships first and the features follow.
