The showround is where the booking is actually won
A wedding venue's entire marketing budget exists to produce one thing: a couple standing in the room. After that, the website, the photographs and the advertising stop mattering and the visit decides everything. Venues that treat the showround as a tour rather than as the most important hour in the sales process lose bookings they had already paid to win.
Know what they want before they arrive
Date, rough numbers, whether the ceremony is on site, what matters most to them. Five questions on the enquiry form and a two-minute call beforehand.
A showround built around their wedding beats a standard tour every time, and the couple notices immediately that you listened.
Show the room set for their number
An empty function room is a hard thing to imagine filled. A couple bringing a hundred and twenty people cannot picture it from a room laid for two hundred.
If you cannot set it, show photographs of a real wedding at their number in that room. It is the single most common gap between what the venue shows and what the couple is trying to decide.
Walk the day in order
Arrival, drinks, where photographs happen, where they go if it rains, the meal, the speeches, the band, where guests sleep.
Couples are not evaluating a building, they are simulating a day. A tour that follows the running order answers questions they did not know how to ask.
Answer the awkward things unprompted
Minimum numbers, what is included, corkage, what happens if the numbers drop, how late the music can go, whether there is another wedding that day.
Raising these yourself reads as confidence. Letting the couple discover them later reads as something else, and it is the most common reason a booking goes quiet after a good visit.
Follow up the same evening
A short message that night, referring to something specific they said, while the visit is still vivid.
Most venues send a generic brochure two days later. The one that follows up personally the same evening is the one still in the conversation a week on.
